Margaret Stewart Periodontal Hygienist
Margaret brings 15 years of dedicated experience to the field of dentistry. Since joining the team at Halifax Periodontics in 2023, she has become an integral part of the practice. Margaret holds a Bachelor of Science from Mount Allison University and earned her Diploma of Dental Hygiene from Oulton College.
A native of Riverview, New Brunswick, Margaret enjoys staying active as a runner and finds creative outlets through her various crafting hobbies. Outside of the office, she loves spending time with her children, Morgan and Milo, and caring for her cat, Binx.
Margaret is passionate about empowering her patients to take control of their periodontal health. She finds the most fulfillment in collaborating with patients to simplify their home care routines, finding practical solutions for even the most challenging areas.
Recognizing that a dental setting can often feel overwhelming, Margaret prioritizes creating a calm, welcoming, and judgment-free space. She is known for her empathetic approach, where she actively listens to her patients, validating their feelings and ensuring they feel supported throughout their entire visit. Her philosophy of care is rooted in partnership; she believes in educating patients with kindness and clarity so they feel confident, informed, and in control of their oral health journey.
Ellen Shoalts Periodontal Hygienist
Hailing from the beautiful Niagara Region in Ontario, Ellen has been a Registered Dental Hygienist for over 30 years. She graduated from Fanshawe College in London Ontario, with further studies at the University of Manitoba and Dalhousie University.
Ellen completed training in Restorative Hygiene, advanced instrument techniques and Diode Laser training over the years. Always eager to learn and stay up to date to provide the best care to clients. She has worked in the Niagara Region and northern Manitoba and now calls Nova Scotia home.
Ellen loves the professionalism and standard of excellence present at Halifax Periodontics. She loves working with such a dedicated and positive team, calling it one of the most positive experiences of her career.
When she is not working, you may find her throwing pots on her potters wheel or digging in the garden. A creative spirit who enjoys having adventures in the woods with her grandchildren, she never tires of seeing the world through their eyes.
